A Personal Note About Our Corporate Sponsor

This ride has been around in one form or another for 60 years, and to the best of my knowledge, there has never been a naming-rights sponsor, so I thought a brief word was in order here.

I'm a big fan of our charity partner, God's Love We Deliver. Don't let the name fool you -- this is not a religious organization. They deliver free healthy meals to often homebound people in New York unable to feed themselves. A good cause, and a really great crew.

I called up my contact at God's Love We Deliver awhile back and said, "I don't have a lot of money, and I'm not ever going to have a lot of money, so you won't be getting a big check from me. What can I do instead to help?"

We started to discuss our friends at Douglas Elliman real estate. For years they've participated in cycling events, all to raise money for God's Love We Deliver.  Oh yeah, and while I imagine that New York real estate can be a pretty rough business, the folks I've met from Douglas Elliman couldn't be nicer.

SO... we came up with a plan. If Douglas Elliman employees promised to pedal The Ride to Montauk as a way to raise a lot of money for God's Love We Deliver, I would give them naming rights to the ride this year; no sponsorship fee.

Fair? Of course fair!
