A great photo  by Heather Burkman, but no; this is not one of our expert trained leaders.

The Escorted Rides

We offer optional escorted versions of the 108-mile route, 73-mile route, and 25-mile route.

Expert leaders will ride with your group to cheer you on and help you conquer the ride.

If you would rather do the ride on your own, that's great!  If you want to do the escorted version of the ride, no need to tell us in advance -- just register as usual. Here’s info on all three escorted rides:

The 108-Mile Escorted Ride

Meet us at the Babylon train station at 7:00 a.m.  (If you are checking in at our Manhattan or Brooklyn location and taking our free transport to Babylon you’ll get there in plenty of time.)

If you are getting to Babylon on your own, without our help, get there no later than 6:30 a.m so you have time to check in and get some breakfast.

We'll shout out and pull together everyone who wants to do the 108 together and then we'll go!  The pace of the group will be about 15 mph -- if there's a big difference in the speed people want to ride, we may split in to two groups.  The only requirement is that you have a bike in good condition, you’re carrying TWO spare inner tubes that fit your bike and a pump, you must be comfortable riding in a group, and you must be able to finish by 6:00 p.m. If we feel that the pace you are going is not going to get you there by 6:00 p.m. we'll have a friendly chat about the best way for you to enjoy the rest of your day.

The 73-Mile Escorted Ride

Just take our morning transportation (we’ll show you how) and we’ll shout out and pull the group together at 9:45 a.m.

The 25-Mile Escorted Ride

Just take our morning transportation (we’ll show you how) and we’ll shout out and pull the group together at 10:30 a.m.  If you are one of the rare folks who is driving themselves to the 25-mile start point (and have their own way to get back there after the ride) please plan on arriving no later than 10 a.m. so you can get signed in and ready to roll by 10:30 a.m.

Many people start the day with the escorted group and then decide they would rather break away and ride on their own, and that's fine.

VITAL: Our leaders are here to help the escorted riders have a great day of riding, but your bike and you must be ready for the pedaling -- we can't help you with that on ride day!
